01-31-2012 Making Friends Beyond Facebook- Pastor Mark Rossington

Facebook is just one of many means of getting touch with other people that we know, and consider our friends. We 'like' statuses, comment on each other's posts, and text each other as a means of communication. But is it really enough, and does it actually count as having a close relationship with someone? Pastor Mark tackles these questions and more in his ongoing sermon series on Building Better Relationships, and talks about having online friends and how having a high 'friend' count may not be a good indicator on having close friendships. Just a note: Facebook is not being condemned here, but just as an example on how using that service exclusively make not be the best for interpersonal relationships. So, the sermon on this little humble topic can be found right here.

01-22-2012 Learning To Listen- Pastor Mark Rossington

Hanging out with friends and family is something we do on a regular basis, and is a way to get closer with each other while having fun at the same time. Laughing and joking with those people, or even having a serious conversation with co-workers about a major project that's due. One of the key elements of talking with them is not the communication part, but the listening part. How well do we really do that though? Interrupting, not paying attention, and even not taking their words to heart is somthing of a common occurance that all of us do whether we realize it or not. Pastor Mark continues on with his sermon on Building Better Relationships on the topic of listening, and how we all can be better listeners, and how our relationships with other people will improve because of it. 2012-01-01 Why Read The Bible?- Pastor Mark Rossington

So why should you read the Bible? When you look at the book it's not that thick when you take into account of the letter sizing and footnotes. However, when anyone mentions you should read the Bible your eyes cross and think it's impossible, and the excuses as to not read it starts coming out. And read it in a year? That's just not happening, or can it? Pastor Mark throws a challenge out in his Sunday's sermon on why you should read the Bible, and in a year, and he explains it's not as bad as it sounds. Confused? Interested? Intrigued? Well, it's finally a new year and this is a different approach to reading the Bible, so give this a spin.
