The other thing about being thankful for what you are giving is giving actual thanks for it. By that, we will go to the person and say, 'thanks' or sometimes we do something for them in a show of thankfulness and gratitude for what they've done. How often we do that is really spotty and depends on the situation that we deem worthy of giving thanks. Is that really what we should be doing though? Hollywood has done movies about them, TV shows have had episodes where they're there doing miraculous things or for comic relief, and works of fiction have them in spades.
